Cacao Walnut Granola

By Wednesday, April 16, 2014 , , , ,

This is one of the first times I have ever made granola using oats and I loved it! The oats stick together into little clusters and it's so deliciously crunchy too! The addition of cacao powder makes this like a nutritious version of your favourite chocolately cereal- move over cocoa pops!

The best part is, this granola is so easy to make and you can switch the walnuts and pumpkin seeds for any nuts you have available to make something that suits you perfectly. It's the most perfect breakfast!

Makes around 6 servings

You will need:

2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup agave nectar/maple syrup
2 tbsps melted coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tbsps raw cacao powder

Preheat your oven to 180C and mix all of the above well in a bowl. Then simply pour onto a baking tray and bake for approximately 30 minutes, turning occasionally to prevent it burning/sticking. Once crisp, allow to cool on the tray and transfer to an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.

  1. I really love granola! I've made a batch last week with some pistiachios and dried figs. Next time I'm going to add cacao powder like you did. It looks amazing!
